Queensland tourism operators can skill up on how to boost their image online through free workshops with TripAdvisor.

Tourism Minister Kate Jones today encouraged tourism operators on the Gold Coast and Brisbane to register now for the first workshops on 10 February.

“The Queensland Government is hosting these workshops with TripAdvisor – the world’s largest online travel site – to help our operators manage their online reputation to boost business,” Ms Jones said.

“TripAdvisor’s Senior Sales Executive Jessica Quinlan will share findings of research commissioned by the State Government in 2015 on how consumers viewed key Queensland destinations.

“Presentations will feature detailed findings about specific regions, including the performance of operators in terms of ratings for factors such as service, staff and value.”

Ms Jones said the workshops offered a unique opportunity for tourism operators to learn insights from the world’s largest online travel site.

“Research shows that 96 per cent of TripAdvisor users find reviews important when booking hotels, and hotel owners who reply to comments are 20 per cent more likely to attract bookings,” she said.

“I encourage all tourism operators to attend to discuss the implications of this research for the state’s $23 billion tourism industry.”

Workshops will be held in other regional centres later this year.

Registrations for the Gold Coast and Brisbane workshops close at 4pm on 5 February. Follow DestinationQld on Facebook and Twitter for upcoming workshops.
