Ms Palaszczuk, who turned the sod on the SunCentral Maroochydore project, said she welcomed the call for tenders for the stage 1A civil, engineering and construction works contract.

“SunCentral Maroochydore is expected to create more than 5,000 jobs by 2020 and a further 15,000 jobs by 2025.”

“That’s an estimated boost to the Queensland economy of more than $350 million by 2020 and $5.9 billion over the 20-year life of the project.

“Queensland has had the highest business confidence of any mainland state for seven months in a row.

“That confidence is backed up by our record on providing jobs, with 71,700 new jobs created since my Government was elected 12 months ago.”
