Racing Minister Grace Grace today visited Mackay Turf Club to meet with club representatives and local racing industry stakeholders.

Ms Grace said Mackay Turf Club had an exciting future, thanks to a $7.4 million upgrade delivered through the State Government’s Racing Infrastructure Fund.

“Mackay now has a new racing surfacing surface, making it one of the best in Queensland,” she said.

“The racecourse upgrade has also delivered improved public and member facilities, making it more attractive to racegoers.

“CEO Ross Prowd and his team have big plans plans for the future and this is an exciting time for the club.

“The Palaszczuk Government is a great supporter of regional and country racing.

“Our $21 million Country Racing Support Program guarantees existing country racing prize money levels for at least two years from 2016-17.

“It’s about supporting country racing and giving country race clubs the certainty they need to plan for the future.”
