Premier and Minister for the Arts
The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has called on Queenslanders to embrace the spirit of the holiday season and to donate to the Christmas appeals of Queensland charities.
The Premier last night presented four $100,000 cheques on behalf of all Queenslanders to the St Vincent de Paul Society, UnitingCare Queensland, The Smith Family and The Salvation Army to support their vital community work.
“I thank these charities for their dedication and hard work in helping people and families in need throughout the year and a big thank you to Queenslanders for digging deep so these charities can continue to do such wonderful work in our community,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
“Our charities are the great givers of hope and joy at this time of year; they provide practical and emotional support to people doing it tough.
“Throughout Queensland, whether it is Brisbane, Gold Coast, Longreach, Cairns, Townsville or Toowoomba, our charities provide a helping hand to residents who need a helping hand.
“It doesn’t matter how big or how small the donation is, whether it is clothes, unwanted items or a few dollars, the impact of everyone’s small acts of generosity can be life changing for those people in need,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
