Premier opens production studio in Tokyo

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is in Tokyo attending the opening of the international studio of Brisbane-based production house Cutting Edge, as Queensland companies continue to do well overseas.

The opening comes after Cutting Edge was named a winner of the Creative Industries Award at the recent Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards.

Cutting Edge, which has been operating for nearly 25 years, has developed into one of the largest post-production studios in Queensland with VFX and post-production facilities in Brisbane, Sydney and the Gold Coast.

“Cutting Edge is a great example of a Queensland company with the skills and expertise to take on global companies on the international stage,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“Australian post-production companies are highly regarded in Japan and Cutting Edge has been successfully servicing the Japanese market for over 15 years.

“Today the company is increasing its commitment to the region by growing its presence in Tokyo and expanding its exports with the assistance of Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ), my government’s global business agency.

“Having a dedicated Tokyo office will give Cutting Edge a greater foothold in Asia and projects generated in Japan and China provide employment opportunities for Queenslanders.”

The business generates 40 per cent of its sales from overseas markets and it continues to build its international reputation with increased demand for services in Europe, Asia and the United States.
