  • New Boundary Road interchange progressing well with major bridge works
  • An average of 100 jobs supported during construction phase
  • $100.4 million project

The Boundary Road/Bruce Highway upgrade at Narangba will reach a key milestone this week as the installation of concrete girders for the new Boundary Road overpass begins.

The installation of the bridge girders is the next major phase in construction of the $100.4 million upgrade which will unlock a major congestion point and improve safety for all motorists.

Sixty-eight pre-cast concrete girders are to be installed across the highway to support the new four-span Boundary Road overpass. The project team will start installation over the northbound Bruce Highway on-ramp at Boundary Road and will move east across the highway, finishing up over the southbound Boundary Road off-ramp.

Girder installation work will continue up until the Christmas break and should be complete in January, weather and construction conditions permitting.  Detours and diversions will be in place for motorists at night while work is undertaken and some delays may be experienced. Traffic control and signage will be in place to help motorists navigate detour and diversion routes.

The project is estimated to support an average of 100 jobs during its construction phase and is on track for completion by mid-2018.

The $100.4 million Bruce Highway – Boundary Road Interchange Upgrade project is a jointly funded with the Australian Government committing up to $80.3 million and the Queensland Government contributing $20.1 million. For more information visit www.tmr.qld.gov.au.

Quotes attributable toState Member for Kallangur Shane King:

“The increased capacity at the interchange will make it quicker and easier for motorists accessing the Bruce Highway as well as the residential and retail precincts in the Narangba and North Lakes area.”

Quotes attributable toState Member for Murrumba Chris Whiting:

“We ask that local motorists use routes other than Boundary Road where possible during the works, and that motorists on the Bruce Highway take care when travelling through the construction area.
