Yatala-based company Logan Steel has been recognised for excellence in the building industry taking out the ‘Commercial Trade Contractor of the Year’ award at this year’s Master Builders Housing and Construction Awards.

Minister for Housing and Public Works Mick de Brenni congratulated the company for its outstanding work in the field.

“Logan Steel was awarded this honour for its work on Movieworld’s Sound Stage 9 – a 45m x 90m clear span portal frame building containing 40 tonnes of structural steel, 900 metres of catwalk, 1.8 kilometres of handrail and 900 metres of monorail,” Mr de Brenni said.

“This was a complex and significant job and Logan Steel met the challenges to get this job done.

“It’s always great to see local, family owned companies like Logan Steel, which has been operating in the structural steel industry for more than 40 years, recognised publicly and I wish Myles Giess and his team all the best for the future.”

Mr de Brenni said the Master Builders Housing and Construction Awards, now in its 29th year, showcased excellence right across Queensland’s housing and construction industry.

“These awards cater for entrants ranging from apprentices to trade contractors and small family businesses to the biggest names in the building and construction industry,” he said.

“It is clear from this year’s award winners that Queensland’s building and construction industry is in safe hands.”
