The Rugby League All Stars will return to Suncorp Stadium in 2016 for an epic clash featuring some of the nation’s leading Indigenous sporting heroes.

Treasurer and Minister For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Partnerships Curtis Pitt today attended the official All Stars launch at Suncorp.

NRL Indigenous Ambassador Jessica Mauboy also attended the launch along with supercoach Wayne Bennett, Brisbane Broncos legend Sam Thaiday and other members of the rugby league fraternity.

“The All Stars is a highlight of the national sporting calendar and it will be bigger and better than ever when it returns to Brisbane in February,” he said.

“It will bring together the game’s best Indigenous and non-Indigenous players in a unique celebration of the diversity of rugby league.

“Fans have been pouring through the gates for decades to see great Indigenous Queensland players like Steve Renouf, Sam Backo, Johnathon Thurston and the legendary Arthur Beetson.

“Between them they knew every blade of grass at Suncorp, the word’s best rugby league stadium.

“It’s the perfect venue for the All Stars and rugby league fans can enjoy all the action for as little as $10, with tickets on sale from today.”

Mr Pitt said the last time the game was played at Suncorp in 2013, more than 41,000 fans turned out to support their rugby league heroes.

“This exciting exhibition match further positions Brisbane and Queensland as a premier major events destination,” he said.

“The Palaszczuk Government is a proud supporter of the All Stars, an event which promotes harmony across all cultures and communities.”

Customers with a pre-purchased game ticket or a stadium membership card can travel free to and from Suncorp Stadium on all regular network-wide Brisbane Transport buses and Queensland Rail City Network trains.

The All Stars match will take place on Saturday 13 February. To purchase tickets, visit www.nrl.com/tickets.
