Premier and Arts Minister Palaszczuk has announced that a new television mini-series starring Rebecca Gibney is the latest production to film in Queensland.

“Queensland is on a roll in attracting domestic screen production and the drama series Wanted (working title) continues the momentum,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“The mini-series was created by Rebecca Gibney and Richard Bell and will be entirely based in Queensland – with all filming and post production happening here.”

Screen Queensland is investing $527,768 in Wanted, and while the production will be based in Brisbane, it will film on locations throughout Queensland in September before screening on the Seven Network.

The Premier said Wanted was the latest production in a flourishing local screen industry.

“Investment in the local screen industry generates jobs and boosts the economy,” she said.

Goldstone, shot in Middleton and Winton in May, has generated over $2 million in Queensland production expenditure with a significant impact for the outback Queensland economy, while the third series of Mako: Island of Secrets, which filmed on the Gold Coast, provided around 400 jobs with an expected injection of $7.4 million into the state’s economy.”

Screen Queensland chief executive officer Tracey Vieira said production investment allocated in 2014-15 would generate film activity throughout 2015-16.

“The local industry will be busy with series two of the ABC political thriller The Code, the animated Balloon Barnyard preschool television series by Queensland company Like A Photon, and documentary television series Baby Animals in the Wild by Wildbear Entertainment,” Ms Vieira said.

Wanted is being produced by Matchbox Pictures, who recently opened a Brisbane office supported by Screen Queensland Enterprise Funding, and R&R Productions - Rebecca Gibney and Richard Bell's company.
