The Honourable Kate Jones
Education Minister Kate Jones today announced the 19 state finalists of Queensland’s 2015 Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools.
Ms Jones said the finalists would compete for state titles in six categories to be announced on World Teachers’ Day on Friday 30 October 2015.
“Congratulations to all state finalists for their achievement in this 16th year of Queensland’s most prestigious awards for state school excellence,” she said.
“Being selected from a total of 112 entries which were then narrowed to 32 regional award winners is a remarkable achievement.
“Queenslanders can be rightly proud of their state schools, as shown by the outstanding quality of each of these 19 finalists.”
Ms Jones said each state finalist had won a $7,500 development grant to help them continue to deliver the best for Queensland students.
“These awards play a key role in promoting public education, creating professional development opportunities and fostering a culture of sharing best practice,” she said.
“State finalists were selected for each of the six categories, but all demonstrated a sustainable and inclusive approach which can now be applied to other schools to boost student outcomes.
“I’m delighted that 54,000 Queensland state school students have already benefitted from the programs outlined in all Showcase Award submissions this year.”
The Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools are supported by major sponsors Network Ten, Teachers Health Fund, QSuper, Village Roadshow Theme Parks, RemServ, Queensland University of Technology and supporting partner QT Mutual Bank.
