Commonwealth Games Minister Kate Jones today said Jupiters’ sponsorship of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games signalled a strong vote of confidence in the Games’ success.

Ms Jones said the Commonwealth Games was a great opportunity for Echo Entertainment’s Jupiters to support a significant local event and promote the Gold Coast to the world.

“Jupiters is a proud and iconic Gold Coast brand and it’s important for the Games to have such a significant sponsor come on board so far out from the event,” she said.

“I congratulate GOLDOC on securing the Games’ first Tier One sponsor and I’m sure Jupiters will play a key role in shaping its success.

“It follows Echo Entertainment’s sponsorship of the 2014 Australian Commonwealth Games Team that competed in Glasgow.”

Ms Jones said the sponsorship announcement was another major milestone on the road to the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

“Echo Entertainment have made a strong vote of confidence in the Games and also in their commitment to the Gold Coast and Queensland,” she said.

“This partnership will help reap benefits for the Gold Coast including driving tourism and jobs growth.

“We know the Commonwealth Games will support at least 30,000 jobs and deliver a $2 billion injection into the Queensland economy.

“The $320 million Games infrastructure program is forging ahead with construction underway at three new GC2018 venues, early works started on the Games Village and all venues scheduled for completion 12 months ahead of the opening ceremony.”

Ms Jones the GC2018 sponsorship program extended across three tiers with every sponsor contribution varying depending on the level of commitment.
