Queensland leads way on business confidence

Queensland continues to lead the way nationally on business confidence, according to the latest NAB Monthly Business Survey.

Treasurer Curtis Pitt said business confidence in Queensland (trend) rose by 1 point to +7 points in NAB’s May survey released today.

“In trend terms, Queensland is sitting equal first with New South Wales when it comes to business confidence, in another positive sign for the State economy,” he said.

“It’s very clear that businesses are growing more confident under Queensland Labor and responding to our positive economic agenda.

“Today’s result builds on an encouraging run of economic data in Queensland which includes full-time jobs growth and increased merchandise exports.

“It’s yet another vote of confidence in the Palaszczuk Government’s plan to promote growth and jobs.”

Mr Pitt said Queensland Labor was working with business and industry on economic development to create the industries and jobs of the future.

“Today, the Premier and I met with some of Queensland’s top business leaders at the first meeting of the Premier’s Business Advisory Council,” he said.

“We held some very positive discussions about how government can work with business to generate economic growth and jobs.

“Our door will always be open to business as we set about building confidence in Queensland and creating a stronger economy.”
