Premier convenes Business Advisory Council

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk today convened the first meeting of the Premier’s Business Advisory Council.

“In the first days of my Government, I convened an informal meeting of business and industry leaders to assure them that my Government wanted to work with the business community to create jobs and strengthen our economy,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“Since then, we have had an open door policy with business leaders, doing everything we can to encourage more investment in Queensland.

“Today I have formalised this policy by establishing a high-profile Business Advisory Council.

“This Council will include business and industry leaders representing a wide cross-section of the economy.

“Whether it’s the resources sector, skills and training, property development or construction, or one of our emerging sectors like IT, these business leaders will bring to the table a variety of perspectives and ideas that can inform Government policy.

“My constant engagement will all sectors of the economy won’t change, but my Business Advisory Council will provide me with a direct forum where senior business leaders can give the Government feedback and put forward ideas.”

Ms Palaszczuk said consensus and consultation will be a hallmark of her Government.

“By working together, we can grow the economy, improve productivity and support job creation.

“We want to hear what the Government can do for the business community, because a prosperous business community means more jobs.

“This is a high-profile group plugged into all facets of the economy, so I look forward to many positive outcomes from these meetings.”

The Premier’s Business Advisory Council is expected to meet three to four times per year.
