Treasurer, Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations and Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships
The Honourable Curtis Pitt

Businesses and industry are being urged to have their say on a Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) draft report into industry assistance in Queensland.

Treasurer Curtis Pitt said the draft report released today discusses a broad range of Queensland Government industry assistance measures.

The draft report, commissioned by the previous LNP government, considers industry assistance and its contribution to the State’s performance and productivity.

The Palaszczuk Government values the independent views being put forward by the QCA.

We note the report and its recommendations, however we have no current plans to change assistance arrangements detailed in this report.

Submissions are sought on the draft report by 3 July 2015.

A final report will be submitted to the Queensland Government by 31 July 2015.

The Government will consider its response once the final report is released, taking into account feedback from business and industry stakeholders.

Mr Pitt also thanked outgoing QCA Chairman Malcolm Roberts for his services.

Mr Roberts resigned from the QCA in May after accepting the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association.
