The Honourable Kate Jones

Queensland businesses are invited to nominate representatives to sit on the Queensland Small Business Advisory Council.

Small Business Minister Kate Jones said small businesses will make up the majority of the council.

“Since becoming Minister, I have met with small businesses around the state and heard first-hand they want greater engagement with government,” Ms Jones said.

“I’ve listened to their concerns and have decided to increase the number of small business representatives on the Small Business Advisory Council.

“We are looking for the business minds of today that are going to create the jobs of tomorrow and are particularly interested in small businesses that are both innovative and entrepreneurial.

“Small businesses are the backbone of regional economies so we also want to see a strong representation from the regions.”

Ms Jones said the council would support the Palaszczuk Government’s commitment to create jobs and grow the Queensland economy.

“The Small Business Advisory Council will create a direct line of communication between small business and government,” she said.

“With half of all private sector jobs in small business, stimulating growth in small business is critical to jobs for Queenslanders.”
