Motorists travelling in and out of Noosa will benefit from a $2.5 million program to smooth the main access road connecting the renowned Sunshine Coast tourist and shopping area.

Main Roads and Road Safety Minister Mark Bailey said Eumundi-Noosa Road was being resurfaced between Grays and Justin roads, as part of a project which also includes a new dedicated right-turn lane into Beddington Road.

“Local motorists share Eumundi-Noosa Road with 12,000 vehicles every day so they need safer and better access to their local roads,” he said.

“This is a high priority and it’s being delivered by adjusting line markings at the intersection, so there can be a dedicated right-turning lane into Beddington Road, separating traffic travelling straight along Eumundi-Noosa Road from motorists waiting to turn into local streets.”

Works started in May 2015 to repair the road and improve drainage along Eumundi-Noosa Road.

The main works are likely to be completed in mid-July.
