Premier and Minister for the Arts
The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk attended the opening of James Cook University's new Singapore campus today.

"The new campus in Singapore cements JCU's status as one of the region's premier universities," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"It gives Queensland a permanent foothold in one of Asia's most dynamic markets."

The new campus features state-of-the-art facilities and will prove to be a major attraction for students not only looking for a world-class education, but an insight into everything the Queensland and Australian economies have to offer.

"Congratulations to JCU Chancellor Lt. General John Grey AC, Vice-Chancellor Professor Sandra Harding and the whole team."

Ms Palaszczuk said the opening of JCU's new campus was a key part of her visit to Singapore.

"As part of the Prime Minister's delegation here to discuss opportunities in northern Australia, I will be meeting with numerous business and Government leaders today and tomorrow," she said.

"There is no shortage of Singaporean investors and businesses keeping a close eye on Queensland based investment opportunities.

"Queensland has two-thirds of the population of northern Australia, as well as well-developed cities and a highly skilled workforce, making us a very attractive investment destination.

"As a Government, we are very keen to work with our partners in Singapore to attract more investment and create more jobs," she said.
