Premier pushes renewables, IT and movie industry in California (AUDIO AVAILABLE)

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has spent the final two days of her trade mission to the US promoting Queensland as a potential home for major investment from some of California's biggest companies.

Today the Premier held a high level meetings with global technology leader Tesla and motion picture and TV Giants Disney, Marvel, Legendary and NBC Universal.

'I'm very excited about the potential for future investment in Queensland coming out of America," the Premier said.

"Tesla is a perfect fit for Queensland given their appetite for innovation in renewable energy, especially solar.

"I've invited Tesla CEO Elon Musk to Queensland, not only to discuss a potential partnership, but also to invite him to speak at the prestigious World Science Festival, which Brisbane will host for the next six years.

"I also held very fruitful discussions with some of the biggest players in the motion picture industry.

"Queensland already has a global reputation for filmmaking, and as more projects come online we stand ready to work with the big name studios to bring those projects to our shores.

"More partnerships and more investment means more jobs for Queenslanders."

Yesterday the Premier met with IT giants Facebook and GE, as well as convening a Roundtable with some of the IT industry's biggest players.

"As part of my Advance Queensland agenda, boosting entrepreneurial skills and encouraging more innovation in the IT space will be a top priority," she said.

"Not only do we need to foster our innovative ideas, we need to team up with the big venture capital funds and other industry partners to turn those ideas into reality.

"There were some very positive discussions with high-level representatives from companies like Apple, Hewlett-Packard and Salesforce, and I'm confident the groundwork has been laid for some exciting partnerships to be created that will benefit Queensland businesses."
