Bribie Island Bridge is looking better than ever following a $630,000 facelift and the addition of six new pedestrian passing bays.

The 51-year-old-bridge spans 835 metres across the Pumicestone Passage.

Main Roads and Road Safety Minister Mark Bailey said the new passing bays would enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists on the popular bridge.

“It’s a great place for residents and visitors to take in a bit of sightseeing and throw in a line.”

Member for Pumicestone Rick Williams said the new passing bays would make the bridge more user-friendly for cyclists and pedestrians.

“It’s a great way to while away the hours on a weekend and to take in all that the Pumicestone Passage has to offer.

“The bridge upgrade has been underway since February and I thank motorists and local residents for their patience while the works were being carried out.”
