A new service centre offering licence, registration and other transport services to up to 450 customers per day officially opened in Townsville today.

Minister Assisting the Premier on North Queensland Coralee O’Rourke said the new centre on High Range Drive in Cannon Park would offer customers more convenient and comfortable services.

“The new centre will meet the transport needs of local residents and visitors to Cannon Park and surrounding areas now and into the future,” Mrs O’Rourke said.

“The eight custom-built counters have been specifically designed to meet the needs of people with a disability, which means everyone in the community can benefit from these new services,” she said.

“This new centre is another example of the Palaszczuk Government’s commitment to improving accessibility and service delivery in North Queensland.”

Member for Thuringowa Aaron Harper said the new centre provided a bright, warm and friendly environment that was designed with customers front of mind.

“This is about offering residents more choice and convenience when they are going about their business,” Mr Harper said.

“The new centre is a great win for our community and I will continue to make sure locals have access to first class services.”

Licensing and registration services from the Garbutt Transport and Main Roads centre in Leyland Street will continue to operate.

Transport and Main Roads continues to review its service centre locations to ensure they meet community expectations.
