The Honourable Kate Jones

Education Minister Kate Jones today called for nominations for the prestigious 2015 Jack Pizzey Awards for state schools.

Ms Jones said the awards recognised the teachers and schools who helped deliver excellence in state education.

“The Palaszczuk Government is determined to ensure that all Queensland children benefit from a quality education,” she said.

“And we want to recognise those teachers and schools who are going above and beyond to provide their students with outstanding educational opportunities.

“I encourage schools to nominate teachers, principals and school leadership teams who help make our state schools great.

Ms Jones said the awards covered four categories of excellence including:

  • The Jack Pizzey School of the Year Award;
  • The Jack Pizzey Principal of the Year Award;
  • The Jack Pizzey School Leadership Team of the Year Award; and
  • The Jack Pizzey Teacher of the Year Award.

“A new category for this second year of the Jack Pizzey Awards will recognise Queensland’s Teacher of the Year,” she said.

“Nominations close on 17 July and the 2015 winners will be announced at the Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools gala dinner in Brisbane as part of State Education Week on World Teachers’ Day, 30 October.”

Ms Jones said the Jack Pizzey Awards were named after the former education minister and Premier of Queensland.
