Queensland Anzac Centenary opens third round of grants

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk today announced the opening of round three of the Queensland Anzac Centenary grants program, part of the Anzac Centenary $49.3 million commemorative program.

Local organisations and communities across Queensland have a further opportunity to secure funding for projects that commemorate the role played by Queenslanders in the First World War.

The Premier said the community support already shown by Queenslanders was overwhelming with 141 projects receiving over $3.2 million in funding in the first two rounds.

“I commend those groups who have already received funding for their commitment and dedication to commemorating the Anzac Centenary by creating a lasting legacy for future generations,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“This is an opportunity to engage and educate young and old about the involvement of and sacrifices made by our nation during and after the First World War.”

Funding will be available for projects that encourage community participation and engagement while raising awareness of the centenary of the First World War.

Premier Palaszczuk said that in round three, priority would be given to projects that focused on community research and had the potential to expand our knowledge of activities on the home front.

“We look forward to receiving initiatives which illustrate the Anzac values of mateship, integrity and sacrifice,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

Round three grant guidelines and the application form are now available on the website.

A free online workshop to assist with the application process will be held on 8 May.

Applications for round three will close 4pm, 9 June 2015.
