The search is on for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies provider for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Commonwealth Games Minister Kate Jones said registrations for expressions of interest opened today.

“In less than three years the eyes of 1.5 billion people will be on the Gold Coast for the 2018 Commonwealth Games,” Ms Jones said.

“The ceremonies provide two epic occasions for the Gold Coast and Queensland to be celebrated around the world.

“The successful provider will be responsible for the creative design, production and delivery of two of the biggest ceremonial events ever staged in Australia.”

Ms Jones said the ceremonies will ‘share the GC2018 dream’ and put Queensland on the global stage like never before.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show the world our lifestyle, our culture, our love of sport and everything that makes us who and what we are,” she said.

“All elements of the ceremonies will be closely-guarded secrets right until the final moments to increase the excitement and generate maximum interest.

“We have an amazing opportunity to create and present an event that will not only welcome the world like never before, but that last forever in the memories of all those who see them.”
