The Springfield Anglican College today celebrated the official opening of new school facilities worth nearly $3.7 million.

Education Minister Kate Jones officially opened a new Creative Arts Precinct, Year 7 classroom block and new amenities with acclaimed musician James Morrison AM.

“The Queensland Government has contributed more than $1.1 million for the construction of these new facilities for the students and staff of The Springfield Anglican College,” Ms Jones said.

“I commend the college for their significant investment of nearly $1.9 million and the Australian Government for their contribution of $615,000.

“Together, we have made possible a Creative Arts Precinct where students can develop instrumental music, singing, dance, drama and language skills in purpose-built facilities fitted out with furniture and equipment.

“With the college’s student population steadily growing each year, the Queensland Government also funded the construction of a Year 7 classroom block, complete with air-conditioning and modern technology like interactive data projectors and wireless internet for more flexible learning.

“The Year 7 block also houses office space for the Head of Middle School, meaning support and assistance for the newest members of the secondary campus is right at their doorstep.”

Ms Jones said the new facilities also included a new amenities block for students and staff.

Head of The Springfield Anglican College Mr Steve Croft said the official opening of the new facilities marked a significant milestone in the college’s history.

“It is wonderful that we can work in partnership with the government to develop learning opportunities for young Queenslanders,” Mr Croft said.

“We are committed to ensuring our students have access to relevant and practical educational environments that allow them to reach their full potential.”
