The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has welcomed the appointment of well-renowned Queensland psychologist Ed Mosby to the federal government’s national taskforce on domestic and family violence.

Ms Palaszczuk said Mr Mosby would bring a wealth of expertise and experience to the role.

“As a trained psychologist with experience working at the Helem Yumba Central Queensland Healing Centre, Mr Mosby is well qualified for this role,” she said.

“The Helem Yumba model of prioritising the safety of victims and families and working with perpetrators in a culturally appropriate way is well-respected.”

Ms Palaszczuk said the taskforce was an important step in dealing with domestic and family violence.

“We are currently in the process of considering the recommendations of the Not Now Not Ever report handed down by Quentin Bryce earlier this year and will soon be in a position to discuss them more specifically,” she said.

“I’ve already spoken about the possibility of specialist courts for domestic violence matters.

“When in opposition, Labor introduced a private members bill to strengthen domestic and family violence laws.

“I look forward to working with Mr Mosby and the national taskforce as we roll out our reforms.”
