Time is running out to submit nominations for the 2015 Queensland Multicultural Awards with only a few days until the closing date.

The awards recognise individuals, businesses and community organisations who work and volunteer to promote multiculturalism across the state.

Multicultural Affairs Minister Shannon Fentiman said nominations were rolling in but more were welcome before the closing date of Friday 24 April.

“Nominations are coming in at a good rate but we don’t want people to miss out by not being aware of the closing date,” she said.

“For 25 years, the Multicultural Awards have been recognising Queenslanders who contribute to our vibrant and multicultural society and it is through their hard work that our communities are strengthened.

“I strongly encourage nominations across the six award categories and, on top of that, all nominees will also be considered for a special Minister’s award for multiculturalism in Queensland.”

Nominations are sought in the following categories:

  • Services and Communities
  • Business Excellence
  • Education and Training Innovation
  • Outstanding Volunteer
  • Communications and Media Achievement
  • Multicultural Ambassador

The 2015 Queensland Multicultural Awards gala dinner will kick off Queensland Multicultural Week from 22-30 August.
