The Honourable Kate Jones

The recommendations of the Queensland Audit Office’s (QAO) report on recurrent non-state school funding will be implemented in full, Minister for Education Kate Jones said today.

“The report tabled today included three formal recommendations – one to be actioned by the department and two to be actioned by the independent Non-State Schools Accreditation Board (NSSAB),” Ms Jones said.

“I have spoken directly with the Chair of NSSAB who has assured me that the two recommendations from the Auditor-General will be implemented in full, ensuring that schools maintain appropriate records and that audits are verified.

“The Department of Education and Training are already implementing the Auditor-General’s recommendation to ensure NSSAB is providing accurate student numbers at non-state schools.

The Palaszczuk Government is committed to working with non-state schools which play a valuable role in Queensland’s education system.

The QAO report will be published online, after it has been tabled, at https://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/work-of-assembly/tabled-papers/online-tabled-papers/auditor-general-reports
