Work is underway on a $1.7 million project to boost safety for motorists and pedestrians at the intersection of the Southern Cross Way north-bound off-ramp and Fison Avenue West, in Eagle Farm on Brisbane’s northside.

Main Roads and Road Safety Minister Mark Bailey said the installation of traffic lights and better directional signage would enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians at the intersection.

“The improvements are designed to help motorists safely negotiate their way through the intersection. In addition to the traffic lights and signage, the road will be widened and resurfaced, with lanes reconfigured and the traffic island realigned. A new footpath will also enhance safety for pedestrians,” Mr Bailey said.

Minister Bailey said the works would be undertaken at night to minimise traffic disruptions.

“A reduced speed limit will be in place while works are underway, along with partial lane closures. I thank motorists for their patience while these works are underway and ask that they drive safely, slow down and obey instructions from traffic controllers,” he said.

Works will be undertaken from 7pm to 5am on weekdays, with the project expected to be completed by late June, weather permitting.
