Minister for Education Kate Jones today officially opened Hillbrook Anglican School’s new $16.5 million learning facilities.

The Queensland Government contributed $2.4 million to the new facilities which include 10 new general learning areas, refurbished Performing Arts and Home Economics buildings, and a newly constructed Outdoor Education facility.

“I know Hillbrook Anglican School has always been notable for its exceptional teaching and student outcomes, and the newly opened renovations will ensure it stays at the forefront of quality education,” Ms Jones said.

“It’s excellent timing as well, with the move of Year 7 to high school meaning the school’s youngest students are beginning their secondary schooling with some of the best facilities and equipment available.

Other upgrades at the school include two new language labs, music and drama rooms, a design technology area, student counselling and administrative offices.

Ms Jones said the renovations would provide students with the very best learning experiences in a wide range of fields.

“Students will have the full gamut of education opportunities available to them, from studying computer sciences in the renovated labs through to planning and conducting field trips from the new Outdoor Education centre,” she said.

“Since 1987 the local community has come to rely on the high quality of education and life skills that Hillbrook Anglican School provides its students; these new facilities will ensure they can continue to put their trust in a Hillbrook education for many years to come.”
