Premier and Minister for the Arts
The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has urged Queenslanders to open up their hearts and donate to charities this Christmas.

Ms Palaszczuk today presented three $100,000 cheques on behalf of Queenslanders to UnitingCare Community, St Vincent de Paul Society and the Salvation Army at Parliament House in Brisbane today.

The donations came on top of a $100,000 contribution to The Smith Family’s Christmas appeal, which the Premier launched last month.

Ms Palaszczuk said this Christmas was another opportunity for Queenslanders to enhance their well-earned reputation for helping those in need.

“Queenslanders are renowned for pitching in to help people who need a hand,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“These great charities could use some of that generosity this time of year.

“Christmas is all about giving and I would urge everyone who can to donate to a charity.

“It doesn’t have to be a large amount – every single dollar will make a difference to someone less fortunate this Christmas.”

Ms Palaszczuk said that as well as bringing Christmas spirit to those in need, the charities required year-round support from Queenslanders to help the thousands of people they supported across the state.
