Minister for Education and Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games
The Honourable Kate Jones

Education Minister Kate Jones today farewelled graduating Year 12 students and wished them all the best for their lifelong learning journey.

Ms Jones said about 50,000 Year 12 students would walk through Queensland school gates for the last time today.

“I congratulate them on their efforts and achievements and acknowledge the teachers, school staff, parents and carers for their commitment to education and their support of today’s graduates,” she said.

“I thank the class of 2015 for their leadership, especially for the positive example set for Year 7 students who entered Queensland secondary schools for the first time this year.”

Ms Jones said she wished Year 12 graduates all the best for their next steps.

“Some will be launching immediately into the workforce, others will be eagerly waiting to see if they gain entry into university and others going on to vocational education or training,” she said.

“87 per cent of 2014 Year 12 graduates were in further education, training or full time employment within six months of leaving school and I hope this positive trend continues.”

Year 12 results and OPs will be published in student learning accounts on Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority’s Student Connect website from 9am on Saturday 19 December: https://studentconnect.qcaa.qld.edu.au/

Certificates will start arriving in the mail from Monday 21 December.
