Cowboy’s generosity kicks off Hospital Telethon

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has applauded the North Queensland Cowboys for donating Johnathan Thurston autographed memorabilia to next week’s Telethon for the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The 2015 Premiers have donated three signed kicking tees to the October 17 Telethon, which supports the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

“This is a wonderful gesture from a team that has once again shown its heart and its commitment to the community,” Premier Palaszczuk said in Townsville this morning.

“Lady Cilento Hospital treats children from right across the State and this telethon is an important part of the Children Hospital Foundation’s annual fundraising.

“We’d had discussions with the Cowboys about making a donation, and were so pleased with this offer. I think we all know that anything signed by JT right now will be in high demand, so I hope these items prompt a bidding war on the night.

“My government has already announced we’ll be making a $1 million donation, on behalf of all Queenslanders, and I’ll be there on the night to hand over that cheque.

“The Telethon has a strong record of producing results, thanks to the generosity of partners, supporters and, of course, Queenslanders.

“Once again, thank you and congratulations to the North Queensland Cowboys.”
