Cowboys NRL grand final win one for the ages: Premier

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has congratulated the North Queensland Cowboys on their historic NRL Grand Final win.

The Premier said the game would always be remembered as the first ever all-Queensland grand final.

"Every single Queenslander can be proud of the Broncos and the Cowboys today," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"A big congratulations to Johnathon Thurston and the Cowboys on their win.

"It's been a long time coming, but no-one deserves it more than North Queensland and their diehard fans.

"And commiserations, but a big well done, to Justin Hodges and the Broncos.

"They've had a great year, and they've done their supporters proud.

"This week saw thousands of Queenslanders travel south, while the rest of the state has been gripped with grand final fever.

"This grand final will be remembered as the first all-Queensland grand final, but I don't think it'll be the last."
