Small Business Week will return in early 2016 with a range of activities to celebrate and promote Queensland small business.

Small Business Minister Kate Jones today announced that 2016 Queensland Small Business Week would be held from Monday 22 to Saturday 27 February 2016.

“It is important that we take this opportunity in the business calendar to highlight the commitment, efforts and passion of the largest group of employers in the state,” she said.

“More than 400,000 small businesses in Queensland account for 97% of all businesses and employ nearly half of all private sector jobs in Queensland.

“The Palaszczuk Government is determined to support our small businesses as they work to create more jobs for Queenslanders.

“In February 2016, small businesses can look forward to a comprehensive calendar of events and activities which will inspire and empower small business to grow.”

Ms Jones said events would be held across the state to connect businesses in every region to information, new ideas and people.

“The event program will include workshops, conferences, webinars, training sessions, networking functions and open days,” she said.

“The 2016 Queensland Small Business Week will provide more opportunities for business owners and operators to gain valuable knowledge and learn new skills that will help their businesses prosper.

“The emphasis will be on networking, learning, and sharing ideas to prepare small business for the future.

“The Week also allows the government to engage with small business to hear about their issues, and to get their input on future policy directions.

“Industry and private sector organisations that deliver services to small businesses are invited to be a part of the Week, by hosting events and activities.

“Activities and events should aim to help anyone wanting to start or grow a business, gain new ideas and inspiration, network with other businesses, and gain a better understanding of the support available.”

Being part of the 2016 Queensland Small Business Week as an event host provides great benefits, and is the perfect opportunity to connect with small businesses in your community, and provide valuable knowledge transfer that is relevant and beneficial to business owners and operators.
