The Honourable Andrew Cripps

Land valuations will be delivered faster than ever before with the launch of a new email service by the Queensland Government.

Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Andrew Cripps said the move would allow landowners to get on with their business more quickly and save taxpayers’ money.

“The Newman Government has a strong plan for Queensland and part of that is ensuring easier and swifter access to information,” Mr Cripps said.

“Landowners who sign up for the email service will have fast, safe and secure access to their land valuation notice.

“As up to 1.6 million land valuation notices can be mailed each year, there is the potential for a huge saving to Queensland taxpayers by moving away from having to print out and mail notices to each individual landholder.”

Visitors to the Ekka in Brisbane will be able to sign up for the new service in less time than it takes to complete a wood chop event at the Department of Natural Resources and Mines display in the Queensland Government pavilion.

Staff will be on hand to help people to sign up for the new service, with landowners needing only to have the address of the property they own, their postal address and an email address.

Landowners not attending the Ekka can make the change by visiting the DNRM website – www.dnrm.qld.gov.au/land/titles-valuations/valuations.

Mr Cripps said the new email service showed his department was well on the way to becoming the best natural resources agency in Australia.

“The department has also developed 21st century technology to provide access to more information than ever before about land valuations,” Mr Cripps said.

“Landowners now have year-round access to data such as the spatial representation of the 2014 annual valuation thanks to Queensland Globe, which is part of the Queensland Government's open data initiative.”

Queensland Globe can be accessed via www.dnrm.qld.gov.au/mapping-data/queensland-globe.
