New online tools streamline training

Pursuing your dream career has become even easier with the release of two new online tools as part of the Queensland Government’s strong plan to address skills shortages and reduce unemployment.

Education, Training and Employment Minister John-Paul Langbroek said Queenslanders now had access to the Queensland Skills Gateway website and the myApprenticeship online portal.

“This is all about removing as many barriers as we can so Queenslanders get the skills they need to get real jobs, building a brighter future for workers and their families, Mr Langbroek said.

“For the first time ever, you can search all vocational education and training courses available in Queensland and the training providers that deliver them on the one website.

“The Queensland Skills Gateway is an easy to use one-stop-shop, so people can quickly research details on career pathways, including training locations, course availability and the level of government funding.”

Mr Langbroek said the myApprenticeship online portal would streamline administrative processes and reduce red tape to benefit Queensland’s 80,000 apprentices and trainees.

“The website will enable apprentices and trainees to conveniently and securely view information and complete a range of tasks related to their apprenticeship or traineeship,” he said.

“This includes updating contact information, accessing training contract details and viewing their training results.

“This benefits not only Queensland apprentices and trainees, but their employers and registered training organisations, streamlining processes and leading to greater efficiency.”

Mr Langbroek said the online developments support the 2014-2015 Vocational Education and Training Investment Plan to invest $615 million in training programs to address skills shortages and boost productivity.

“This includes a $225 million investment in the training of apprentices and trainees as part of our election commitment to create an extra 10,000 apprenticeships,” he said.

“We will also invest $155 million to support Queenslanders without a formal qualification to achieve their first post-school Certificate III level qualification

“These online tools take us another step forward in our strong plan to reduce red tape and bureaucracy and ensure a brighter future for all Queenslanders.”
