Sydneysiders are being encouraged to embrace their desire for a Queensland holiday and break the winter blues with the next instalment of the ‘Give me Brisbane Any Day’ interstate marketing campaign.

Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games Jann Stuckey said high profile Sydney KIIS FM presenter Tim ‘Rosso’ Ross had been enticed to ‘break free of his Sydney bubble’ and discover the beauty of Brisbane.

“Rosso was treated to a small taste of the region’s holiday experiences from sand tobogganing on Moreton Island, dining in Fortitude Valley and abseiling at Kangaroo Point Cliffs,” Ms Stuckey said.

“Brisbane offers something for even the most one-eyed Sydneysiders including an exclusive events calendar, world-class restaurants, enviable weather, lifestyle and natural attractions.

“The marketing blitz will give Sydneysiders pause for thought on their frosty winter mornings showcasing why Brisbane shines in a bid to allure more visitors north during the winter months.”

Ms Stuckey said the Tourism and Events Queensland and Brisbane Marketing ‘Give me Brisbane Any Day’ summer campaigns were seen online more than 29 million times and generated 85,000 clicks to the campaign website.

“The winter interstate campaign is a bold approach that will deliver the best of Brisbane through the eyes of Rosso,” she said.

“His adventures will be advertised through radio, online and TV, motivating Sydneysiders to visit Brisbane and discover an exciting destination outside of their local bubble.

“Sydneysiders are experiencing a growing love-affair with Brisbane with numbers increasing to almost 600,000, boosted by a nine per cent growth in holidaymakers.”

Ms Stuckey said the Queensland Government’s 20-year tourism plan Destination Success recognised the importance of preserving and growing the domestic market and providing Australians with a reason to visit Queensland.
