The Honourable Tracy Davis

Queensland families, communities and people with a disability will enjoy better and more responsive services, from a five-year plan to build the country’s best social and human services system.

Minister for Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services Tracy Davis released a blueprint that delivered on the Government’s election promise to revitalise frontline services for families and vulnerable Queenslanders.

“There are many families and Queenslanders in need and we want to do all we can to make sure they have essential services, not just now, but into the future as well,” Ms Davis said.

“The blueprint is part of our strong plan that will create a brighter future for thousands of families, setting out our approach for making sure services reach the people who need them most.

“The former Labor government left a system where services weren’t even mapped across the state resulting in gaps or duplication, but we are making things simpler and more responsive.”

Ms Davis said the blueprint: Investing in Queenslanders: social and human services blueprint 2014–2019 would also ensure Government funding was invested appropriately.

“Each year, the government allocates around $1.5 billion to community organisations to deliver vital social and human services across the state,” he said.

“It is important that every dollar invested is making a real difference in people’s lives, where and when it’s needed the most.

“We promised at the election to revitalise frontline services and this blueprint delivers.

“We have already made good progress on an ambitious reform agenda that is reducing red tape for non-government organisations, investing in innovation and improving service delivery capacity."

Ms Davis said there were six priority areas outlined in the blueprint:

  • More innovative solutions
  • Focus on customer service and results
  • Smarter investment
  • Simpler processes
  • Stronger partnerships
  • Dynamic workforce
