Thousands of Queenslanders will continue to learn more about healthy cooking and eating after the Queensland Government renewed its partnership with Jamie’s Ministry of Food program.
Health Minister Lawrence Springborg visited the Ministry of Food Mobile Kitchen at Carina to announce a renewal of the partnership between Queensland Health and The Good Foundation.
“Jamie’s Ministry of Food has helped more than 17,000 Queenslanders learn food and cooking skills,” Mr Springborg said.
“The Good Foundation and Queensland Health have worked together to spread the message against obesity and related chronic disease for three years already.
“I’m pleased to announce this successful program will continue.
“The LNP Government has a strong plan to address the serious, underlying problems that affect the health of Queenslanders.
“It supports the goal of this successful program, to empower change in the way people eat and think about food.
“Our own Healthier. Happier. campaign is encouraging Queenslanders to adopt healthier lifestyle habits to improve their health and wellbeing. It’s all about making small changes to our lives every day.
“Jamie’s Ministry of Food is improving people’s knowledge and skills about food and how to achieve better health by eating and cooking with fresh food.
“It’s all part of the same strong plan.”
Member for Chatsworth Steve Minnikin MP said he was pleased the mobile kitchen would continue to deliver these successful courses to local residents.
“Places in this program sell out well in advance and the program has a really good completion rate,” Mr Minnikin said.
“The classes provide participants with practical experience and can make real change to their health and that of their families.”
Mr Springborg said the government was committed to helping Queenslanders achieve better health.
“I want to see Queensland become the healthiest state, so I welcome any program that helps Queenslanders to lead healthier lifestyles,” he said.
The Good Foundation was established in 2010 to focus on programs and projects that promote good health and nutrition, with the first priority program being Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia.
