The Honourable Campbell Newman

The Newman Government has stepped in to ensure the $15 million Redcliffe GP Superclinic and Think Pharmacy finally starts delivering services to the local community, following years of Labor mismanagement and empty promises.

Premier Campbell Newman visited the clinic at the Moreton Bay Integrated Care Centre which will provide essential GP and pharmacy services to the local community.

“The Redcliffe GP Superclinic and Think Pharmacy will provide residents with extended bulk-billed GP services, an after-hours GP service and integrated primary care,” Mr Newman said.

“The pharmacy features a state of the art prescription dispensing system which will reduce waiting times for medications and further improve patient services.

“This is just another example of how putting the needs of patients at the centre of everything we do and handing the control of hospitals and health services back to local boards, delivers great results.

“The Newman Government promised to revitalise front line services and this facility will support and enhance the excellent healthcare the region already receives through the Redcliffe Hospital.

“The former Queensland Labor Government and former Federal Labor member Yvette D’ath have proven time and again they simply can’t deliver when it comes to health.”

Mr Newman said that in less than 12 months, the State Government had ensured the community received the services it was promised almost a decade ago.

“Labor’s failure to open the clinic resulted in control being transitioned from the Redcliffe Foundation to the Queensland Government’s Metro North Hospital and Health Board last year,” he said.

“We now have a situation where from Monday, patients will be able to visit a GP and pick up their prescription.

“This Government is committed to giving Queenslanders greater choice as to how they receive their health care, and this clinic is a great result for the Redcliffe community.”
