Minister for Energy and Water Supply
The Honourable Mark McArdle

Water Supply Minister Mark McArdle has released the discussion papers for Baroon Pocket and Ewen Maddock dams at a launch held on the Sunshine Coast today.

The discussion papers are a part of Seqwater’s most extensive review of recreation of South East Queensland dams and catchments.

Mr McArdle said he encouraged residents and visitors to have their say on the future recreation at Baroon Pocket and Ewen Maddock dams.

“These discussion papers discuss the activities currently available and provide an avenue for the community to formally submit any opportunities they see for future recreation on and around the lakes,” Mr McArdle said.

“Baroon Pocket and Ewen Maddock dams are a hub of activity for locals and it is important everyone speaks up about how this precious resource is managed for future generations to enjoy.

“The community will be able to get involved by attending public information sessions and workshops as well as accessing information on Seqwater’s website and participating in online surveys.

“The response to the release of discussion papers in other areas has been very positive and it’s encouraging to see the number of people who are keen to be involved.”

Information sessions for Lakes Baroon and Ewen Maddock are being held on 21 September at:

•     Maleny -  Maple Street (in front of the IGA) from 9am – 11am
•     Landsborough – Maleny Street (in front of the newsagent) from 11:30am - 1:00pm

Following on from the information sessions, a community workshop will be held.
