Queenslanders have a week left to have their say on the proposed Brisbane Government Precinct Redevelopment.
Acting Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Tim Nicholls said that since the State Government started consultation in June more than 1200 people have completed the online survey.
“This is a timely reminder to all people who wish to make a submission that the consultation period closes next Monday September 2,” Mr Nicholls said.
“The Government has held a number of information sessions within the Central Business District in the Queen Street Mall, Reddacliff Place and the BCC Library in Brisbane Square.
“The State Government also decided to put a consultation stand on the Government pavilion at the Ekka which attracted 60,000 visitors.
Mr Nicholls said the area of land defined as the Brisbane Government Precinct is bordered by the Brisbane River, Queen, Alice, and George Streets.
“To date more than 6000 business cards and postcards detailing how submissions can be made have been distributed,” Mr Nicholls said.
“This is a once in a generation opportunity and the Newman Government is seeking all ideas on how to breathe new life into this underutilised area.”
