Book a lunchtime date to discuss government precinct

Acting Premier
The Honourable Jeff Seeney

Visitors to the Brisbane City Council library in George Street this week will have the opportunity to talk to project officers about the proposed Government Precinct redevelopment.

Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jeff Seeney encouraged interested people to discuss their ideas with the project team between midday and 2pm from tomorrow until Thursday.

“This is an opportunity for the public to have their input and provide their feedback on how they think the precinct can be revitalised,” Mr Seeney said.

“I know there’s been a lot of talk in the media about the possibility of a new casino, but no decisions have yet been made about the redevelopment – we want to know what the community has to say.

“The team has already been out and about in the Queen Street Mall and Reddacliff Place and has handed out around 3,000 information cards detailing how submissions can be made.

“More than 850 people have completed the online survey in the first month and I urge people to have their say before the 2 September deadline.

“The online survey is a quick and easy way to provide your feedback about the redevelopment between the Brisbane River and George Street and between Alice and Queen Streets.”

Mr Seeney said Expressions of Interest were set to be lodged by November this year and the government aimed for a potential commercial outcome by early 2015.

The project team will be on the ground level of the Brisbane City Council library at 266 George Street between midday and 2pm from tomorrow to Thursday.
