Hine retires from bench

Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie congratulated Deputy Chief Magistrate Brian Hine for his service to the people of Queensland at his valedictory this morning.

Mr Bleijie said Magistrate Hine had gained the respect of his peers and court staff alike during his 25 year career.

“Magistrate Hine was appointed as a magistrate in 1993 and assumed the role of Coroner of Brisbane,” Mr Bleijie said.

“He travelled across the state for the next six years before returning to Brisbane where he became Deputy Chief Magistrate in 1999.

“I thank him for his services to the state wish him well in his future endeavours.”

The new Deputy Chief Magistrate will be announced in the coming weeks.
