Queenslanders will unite to share their personal thoughts on what makes Australia great with Premier Campbell Newman today announcing the launch of Thank you Australia.

Mr Newman said the Thank you Australia campaign is an opportunity for all Australians to express their gratitude for the good fortune of being Australian.

“It’s the perfect opportunity for anyone to upload a photo or personal message to say thanks for the wonderful opportunities we have in this great country,” Mr Newman said.

“I encourage all Queenslanders to take part in this special initiative and support the values that shape our nation.

“You might be thankful for our country’s beautiful summer days, your relaxed lifestyle, the day you became a citizen or the freedom of religious beliefs.”

Messages will form part of an Australia-wide gallery, including personal reflections from well-known Australians and leaders of our faith communities.

Queensland entries will also be used by a local artist to create a unique ‘human collage’ installation at the Australia Day Festival, South Bank on Sunday 26 January 2014.

Thank you Australia ambassador Kate Ritchie described the campaign as a catalyst for Australians to take the time to remind ourselves how blessed we are to live here in Australia.

“Let's celebrate by sharing with the rest of the world what we love about this country and what we are grateful for, every day of the year,” Ms Ritchie said.

By uploading a message, participants will have the chance to win a trip for two adults and two children to Sydney.

Thank you Australia is an Australia Day initiative of New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, and supported by Australian Unity. Thank you Australia entries close on 28 February 2014.
