Minister for Education, Training and Employment
The Honourable John-Paul Langbroek

Minister for Education, Training and Employment John-Paul Langbroek has urged recent school leavers or people looking for a career change to consider enrolling in a TAFE Queensland course.

Mr Langbroek said TAFE Queensland had scored excellent results, with the latest national student outcome survey showing almost nine out of 10 TAFE Queensland students secured a job or continued into further training after graduating from TAFE.

“The National Centre for Vocational Education Research 2011 survey results, released in December, reflected the responsiveness of TAFE Queensland,” Mr Langbroek said.

He said the TAFE Queensland 2012 satisfaction survey was also encouraging, showing the highest recorded satisfaction level in seven years.

“The results are extremely positive with 89 per cent of students and 83 per cent of employers indicating overall satisfaction with their TAFE experience,” Mr Langbroek said.

“Students showed their strong support for TAFE with 881 indicating they were likely to recommend TAFE training to others, an increase of one per cent over 2011 figures.”

Mr Langbroek said the results were due to TAFE’s innovative training programs, which were designed in close consultation with employers and reflected the latest industry developments.

“Courses are designed to suit individual needs, with flexible study options including full-time, part time, online, distance, or on-the-job study.

“Training options are designed to meet the needs of everyone, whether they are a school student, a young person considering a trainee position or apprenticeship, a mature-age person wanting a change or a university student seeking practical skills.”

Mr Langbroek encouraged anyone wanting to increase their practical knowledge, learn from industry professionals and be job-ready sooner to turn to TAFE Queensland.

“The Newman Government’s highest priority is to provide specialised training that gives students, both current and prospective, real career options,” he said.

“TAFE Queensland has offered quality training for 130 years and will continue to do so by responding to community needs.”
