Horneman-Wren sworn in as District Court judge
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Jarrod Bleijie has congratulated Mr Alexander Horneman-Wren SC who was today sworn in as a judge of the District Court of Queensland.
Mr Bleijie said upon his appointment, Mr Horneman-Wren would assume the role of Deputy President of the Queensland Civil Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) for the next three years.
“I am delighted to welcome a barrister of Mr Horneman-Wren’s calibre to the District Court,” Mr Bleijie said.
“After 19 years in private practice, his Honour has extensive experience in administrative, industrial and employment law in both federal and state jurisdictions.
“I am also pleased to appoint his Honour to the role of the deputy president of QCAT, a body that plays an integral role in the Queensland justice system.
“Mr Horneman-Wren has a wealth of legal knowledge and experience and it gives me great pleasure to welcome him to the judiciary.
“The Government is pleased that such a distinguished and eminent barrister has accepted appointment to the District Court.
“I congratulate him and wish him all the best for his career on the bench.”
Mr Bleijie also announced that Justice Alan Wilson had been re-appointed as QCAT President for the next 12 months.
