The Honourable Jeff Seeney

Businesses and industry leaders keen to monitor the state’s economic future and infrastructure activities are snapping up tickets for the 11th annual Major Projects Conference.

Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jeff Seeney said the conference, to be held in Brisbane on November 22, had cemented a reputation as the state’s leading infrastructure and major projects event.

“This government is working hard to get Queensland back on track as the nation’s business and resource leader and to restore the budget to surplus,” Mr Seeney said.

“The Major Projects Conference is an important part of this – the event allows government and the private sector to engage on current and future economic activities and potential opportunities.

“Delegates will hear from industry leaders and key state government decision makers.

“A wide range of topics will be covered including: Infrastructure in the Galilee and Bowen Basins; CSG-LNG – Queensland's future in gas; de-mystifying the fly-in fly-out business; planning reforms and action plans; and the outlook for coal.”

The Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning is organising the conference and plays a key role in facilitating the development of major projects in Queensland to bring economic benefits to fruition.

The 2012 event features media commentator Tom Elliott as master of ceremonies and offers sessions with high-profile speakers such as:

  • Stephen Dumble, BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance
  • Nigel Chamier, Commonwealth Games Corporation
  • John Cleland, Anglo American
  • Brad Fish, North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation
  • Andrew Lawson, Cockatoo Coal
  • Andrew Brier, GasFields Commission Queensland

Mr Seeney said sponsorship interest was strong and more than 900 industry leaders and delegates are likely to attend the conference to get project updates, network with colleagues and identify future business opportunities.

“I encourage anyone who wants to share in a stronger Queensland to register now,” Mr Seeney said.

Attendance at the event on Thursday 22 November at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre is $595 per person. To register visit www.mpc.qld.gov.au
